Education grants are offered for technical and vocational training.

A completed application and all required materials must be submitted by the deadline in order for an applicant to receive full consideration.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING GRANTS
Purpose: To promote preparation for successful careers in a specialized technical skills field.
Eligibility: Original enrollees of CIRI and their direct lineal descendants. Should have a high school diploma or GED; should maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average (2.0 GPA for TNC applicants); must be prepared to demonstrate the availability of employment upon completion of the training.
Amount: Up to $4,500 received during a calendar year.

CAREER UPGRADE GRANTS
Purpose: To encourage employment skills upgrades or re-entry into the job market to achieve improved job status through promotion or success in securing employment.
Eligibility: Original enrollees of CIRI and their direct lineal descendants. Should have a high school diploma or GED; should maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average.  For applicants preparing to enter, re-enter, or upgrade in the job market upon completion of training; must be able to demonstrate the availability of employment.
Amount: Up to $4,500 received during a calendar year.

GENERAL FELLOWSHIP
Purpose: For non-credit workshops or seminars that broaden an applicant’s understanding and appreciation of education, culture, and society and directly relate to the improvement of the applicant’s employment skills.
Eligibility: Original enrollees of CIRI and their direct lineal descendants. Must be at least 18 years of age; should have a high school diploma or GED. Should have a cumulative 2.5 GPA or better.
Amount: Up to $500 received during a calendar year.

CULTURAL FELLOWSHIP
Purpose: To encourage applicants in perpetuating and transmitting the visual, literary and performing arts of Alaska Natives.
Eligibility: Original enrollees of CIRI and their direct lineal descendants. Must be at least 18 years of age; should have a high school diploma or GED. Should have a cumulative 2.5 GPA or better.
Amount: Up to $500 received during a calendar year.

KICK START AWARD  Subject to available funds
Purpose: To promote preparation for successful educational attainment of first-time applicants who do not meet the minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 2.5.
Eligibility: Original enrollees of CIRI and their direct lineal descendants. Should have a high school diploma or GED; must be prepared to demonstrate commitment to meeting the standard 2.5 GPA requirement in one semester; should maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average (2.0 GPA for TNC applicants).
Amount: Up to $2,000 received during a calendar year.

JUMP START AWARD  Subject to available funds
Purpose: To promote preparation for successful educational attainment while concurrently obtaining a secondary education.
Eligibility: Original enrollees of CIRI and their direct lineal descendants.  May be a high school student.
Amount: Up to $2,000 received during a calendar year.
